It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Mike Wright. After a 37-year career in the industry culminating with his role as CEO of Rubicon he has decided to start a new exciting chapter in his life.
Mike has been an integral part of the Rubicon team for a number of years and on behalf of the entire organization we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to him for his dedication and leadership over the past number of years and specifically during this past year of transition. As we worked to bring the Amenity and Rubicon organizations together, his contributions and guidance were both significant and meaningful. He will be greatly missed.
Heading into retirement Mike plans to stay engaged in Rubicon. He believes in the industry. He believes in Care Before Commerce. He believes in each and every one of you. Mike not only intends to remain financially invested in Rubicon but also plans to provide as much support as required to ensure a smooth transition to new leadership.
The Board of Directors, (including Mike, Al Chilton and TorQuest), have completed a very lengthy CEO search. This was a very intensive process taking a number of months to complete. As they considered filling this key Executive role there was significant consideration given to the Rubicon culture and to our flat organizational structure. Finding someone with prairie roots, industry knowledge and an understanding of who we are in an independent, entrepreneurial segment of the retail drug industry was a key driver in the process.
As we wish Mike the best of luck and an enjoyable retirement we are also very pleased and excited to announce that Terry Stychin has accepted the position of CEO of Rubicon.
Terry was born and raised in the prairies and he still calls Edmonton home. Terry brings with him extensive leadership experience on the supply and banner services side of the business and is very familiar with Rubicon, its culture and its values.
We remain a "Pharmacy First" company, built on a foundation of Care before Commerce. This foundation continues to be at the forefront at all levels of the organization from the Executive, to the Ambassador Groups, to the Culture Counsel to the Store Operators.
Terry will start his new role with Rubicon on June 3, 2019. Mike will remain with us over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition. Mike will also continue to provide ongoing consultation to the business on a variety of fronts.
As details of the transition are worked out we will share the plan, but it is safe to assume that you should expect to see Terry and Mike out in the stores over the next few months.
Please join us in wishing Mike all the best for the future and welcoming Terry to the Rubicon family.
