Rubicon Pharmacies is currently accepting resumes for a full-time Accountant to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. Join our dynamic and growing retail pharmacy organization, which has over 100 locations across Western Canada!

Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, the Accountant will be an integral finance team member in the financial and accounting support of the business. This individual will support day to day head office, pharmacy, clinic, Tim Hortons, and Starbucks operations from a finance and accounting perspective. The incumbent is responsible for completing periodic finance and accounting transactions and analysis in support of the business’ annual, quarterly and periodic financial statements, providing insight directly on the business. The person will also offer support to the stores and communicate with various internal departments.

Applicants should possess superior communication and customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and blend well as part of a team. Education related to Accounting or Finance is considered an asset.

JOB DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNTANT

Objective: Under the supervision of Rubicon’s Assistant Controller, this position will be an integral finance team member in the financial and accounting support of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Tasks will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Ensure strong/accurate accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets.
  • Improve operations, efficiencies and profitability.
  • Issuance of invoices.
  • Journaling of store financial transactions.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a period end and year end basis.
  • Ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Respond to information requests from internal customers.
  • Assist the stores with any questions related to accounting issues.
  • Recommends changes or enhancements to ensure “best practice” policies and procedures to gain synergies across all lines of business units.
  • Support efforts of management team through preparation and analysis of ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full cycle accounting experience required.
  • Advanced Excel Skillset (V-look up, Pivot Tables).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Formal education in Accounting or Finance is considered an asset.
  • Actively pursuing their CPA designation considered an asset.
