Rubicon Pharmacies, based in Western Canada, was established to provide a viable way forward for independent pharmacists.

Three senior executives in the pharmacy sector saw first-hand the effects that market consolidation was having on community drugstores. Through Rubicon, they have created a co-investment business model that provides a wide range of business support services.

Our stores operate in multiple banners. We are brand agnostic and when we purchase stores we continue to operate the store under its current banner enjoying the brand loyalty and identity this carries within the community.

Rubicon was established in 2005 by Al Chilton, Blair Pateman and Robert Gare, (three senior executives in the pharmacy sector), as a means of providing investment opportunities to pharmacists, while helping them maintain control of their future. Over the past 12 years Rubicon has purchased several Pharmasave, Pharmachoice, Value Drug Mart and IDA stores across Western Canada.

Well known for operating traditional community drugstores, Rubicon has dedicated, highly motivated and engaged staff who work to enhance and build on the stores current market position.
